Thrive Edinburgh is the mental health strategy for Edinburgh which sits with Edinburgh Health and Social Care and Edinburgh Integration Joint Board (EIJB).
Edinburgh Integration Joint Board (EIJB), like other IJBs across Scotland is facing unprecedented challenges to the sustainability of our health and care system; a growing ageing population, an increase in the number of people living with long term conditions; a reduction in the working age population which compounds the challenge in workforce supply, and fundamentally resource availability cannot continue to match levels of demand.
The EIJB is facing an estimated budget deficit for 2024/25 of £60m. As part of the medium-term financial savings plan the EIJB has agreed to savings of 10% for 2024/2025 for Thrive Service Level agreements and Thrive Collective contracts.
These prevailing circumstances and associated financial constraints reinforce the need for us to work and plan together, to redesign services and reshape the services we commission to meet the needs of our Edinburgh people.
This summit has been arranged as the first opportunity following the announcements to bring partners together to hear about current pieces of work, to explore, discuss, and think about what we need to be prioritising and what else we need to be doing.
